This breed appeared in the 1960s, when Ann Baker, a Persian breeder, decided to develop a tamable and sociable cat, which was also supposed to bear a specific coloring. Ann Baker brought forth two breeds of cats – Ragdolls and Ragamuffins.

Ragdolls are very intelligent and people-oriented cats. They have a long and dense coat, which is very easy to groom and does not get tangled like that of other long-haired species.
