Pointed species have clearly defined Siamese-type markings. Bi-colors have white underbodies and dark tops, their muzzles featuring upside-down V-shaped white markings. Mitteds have less of the white, and vans are almost fully white, except for the ears and the top of the head.

These pets were bred in the 1960s by Ann Baker, a Persian breeder. She strove to develop a large and beautiful house pet, which would be easy to groom, healthy and well-mannered. Now these animals occur in 4 basic color variations: pointed, mitted, van and bi-colored.
